Dezvoltarea pe șoseaua Giurgiului s-a bazat pe studiile de sistematizare întocmite de I.P.B. (arhitecți H. Maicu, T. Stănescu, V. Fulicea, R. Gherghel, A. Ghinescu și Dem. Vernescu). Ansamblul – însumând 5.500 de apartamente – se remarcă prin dispunerea decalată a barelor, cu un accent dominant al blocului punct. Ele formau astfel fronturile reprezentative ale acestui acces important dinspre sud în capitală. Starea gravă de degradare a majorității acestor imobile este alarmantă. Cu riscul de a ne repeta, este de datoria noastră să atragem atenția asupra neregulilor ce afectează fondul construit din anii ’60. În cazul de față, senzația este a unui mediu urban în care prezența autorităților este nulă. Se impune o restaurare adecvată și un regulament de urbanism pentru protejarea specificului arhitectural al ansamblului.

The Giurgiului Road Development was based on zoning plans drafted by the I.P.B. (architects H. Maicu, T. Stanescu, V. Fulicea, R. Gherghel, A. Ghinescu and D. Vernescu). The 5,500-apartament ensemble is notable for the staggered slab buildings dominated by the tower. The buildings formed the representative street fronts of this important southern access into the capital. The serious degradations in all these buildings is alarming. At the risk of becoming repetitive, it is our duty to point out the irregularities affecting the built heritage of the ’60s. Here, the feeling is of an urban enviroment with zero management from the authorities. Adequate restoration is needed, as well as urban regulations that would protect the character of the development.
